Colorado rock spires rise above glowing fall aspens beneath a warm sunset sky

Private Colorado landscape workshop

Chase Colorado fall color with someone who knows where it moves.

One, two or three private field days in Colorado. Ryan builds each route around the strongest color, light, weather and access instead of a fixed list of stops.

The real advantage

Fall color does not follow an itinerary.

Ryan has spent years scouting this corner of Colorado from the first leaf changing color to the last leaf falling.

It is a home away from home. That history matters when wind strips one grove, clouds hide one peak or the best color shifts to another elevation. You are not buying a ride to a single overlook. You are booking someone who can read the day and change the plan.

Photographic possibilities

A different visual story in every direction.

Ryan keeps exact places private to protect years of scouting and preserve the experience for booked photographers. Light, color, access and your goals determine the final route.

01

Mountain and valley views

Build grand compositions with layered color, changing light and dramatic weather.

02

Waterfalls and moving water

Use dark rock, fall details and flowing water to strengthen long exposure technique.

03

Cabins and historic structures

Frame character-rich architecture with aspens, peaks and the possibility of early snow.

04

Aspen forest interiors

Work with repeating lines, backlight and quiet scenes away from broad overlooks.

05

Reflections and still water

Look for mirrored color, subtle movement and clean separation around mountain water.

06

Intimate fall details

Move beyond the grand view to isolate bark, leaves, texture and color relationships.

07

First snow possibilities

Respond when changing weather adds fresh contrast to peaks, forests and structures.

08

Your creative priority

Share the kind of photograph you want to make. Ryan will assess timing, access and potential.

Years of local knowledge

The plan changes because the landscape changes.

Ryan tracks color by elevation and exposure then watches weather, wind and access. A clear morning may call for a broad mountain view. Soft cloud can open the forest. Rain can deepen bark and rock. Early snow can transform a cabin or peak.

Your days are connected, but they do not need to repeat. Each one can move from grand views to aspen interiors, water, architecture or a location you bring to the conversation.

Choose your time

Enough options to fit the trip. No package maze.

Every option is private and includes location planning, field instruction and direct feedback. Add up to two photographers at about half the base price per person.

4x4 made simple

You can book now and settle the vehicle plan next.

Some remote routes may require a suitable high-clearance 4x4 with room for your party plus Ryan. You do not need to solve that before choosing dates.

  1. Bring a suitable 4x4 with a seat for Ryan
  2. Rent one at your cost
  3. Choose a standard-road itinerary
  4. Ask Ryan which choice fits your goals

Vehicle rental, fuel and any location-specific fees are separate from the workshop price.

Questions answered

Know what you are booking.

Clear expectations make the field time better.

Is peak color guaranteed?

No. Fall color changes with elevation, temperature, wind and weather. The advantage of private dates is that Ryan can choose from many scouted areas instead of forcing a fixed route.

Do I need a 4x4?

Not for every route. Some remote options may require a suitable high-clearance 4x4. You can bring one with room for Ryan, rent one at your cost or choose a standard-road itinerary.

Can another photographer join me?

Yes. The lead photographer may add up to two people. Each additional photographer is priced at about half the base package price.

Where should I stay?

The exact base stays private to protect Ryan's scouted locations. After booking, Ryan sends the central lodging area, gear guidance and meeting details.

How difficult are the field days?

Routes can be adapted around mobility and comfort. Share any access needs in the booking form so Ryan can recommend suitable locations.
