The practical details for a private winter day on the Mississippi.

01How does booking work?+

Choose one open day or a pair of consecutive open days from the live calendar. Your date or dates are held immediately for 24 hours while you complete Ryan’s secure checkout.

02When are private workshops offered?+

The 2027 eagle season runs January 16 through February 10. The booking calendar shows Ryan’s current availability in real time.

03What happens if the weather is difficult?+

Weather is part of wildlife photography and Ryan adapts locations and timing to the conditions. Safety always comes first. If severe weather makes the day unsafe, Ryan will coordinate the best available alternative.

04Do I need advanced camera skills?+

No. All experience levels are welcome. Because the workshop is private, the day can begin with basic camera setup or move directly into advanced autofocus, exposure, behavior and editing.

05What camera gear should I bring?+

Bring a camera with continuous autofocus and the longest telephoto lens you own. A 400–600mm reach is useful, but Ryan can help you get the most from a shorter lens. A full preparation guide is sent before the workshop.

06How much walking is involved?+

Very little. Most locations require minimal walking on winter surfaces, but cold, wind, mud, snow and uneven ground are possible. Share any mobility concerns when requesting a date so Ryan can plan responsibly.

07Are lodging and transportation included?+

No. Flights, rental cars, lodging, meals and travel insurance are separate. Meeting locations are generally about one hour from St. Louis Lambert International Airport; exact directions are provided privately after booking.

08Is wildlife guaranteed?+

No ethical wildlife workshop can guarantee a sighting or specific behavior. Ryan chooses locations using current conditions, known activity and years of local field experience, but eagles remain wild and are never staged or baited.

09What is the cancellation policy?+

Workshop deposits reserve a private date. If you cancel 60 days or more before the workshop, the deposit may be transferred to another available workshop. Cancellations within 60 days are not refundable or transferable unless otherwise agreed in writing.

10What does the editing session include?+

After the field day, you and Ryan meet online to edit your images using Lightroom, Photoshop and Topaz tools as appropriate. The session is recorded so you can revisit the full workflow later.
